Dr. Winters has taken a different approach to
providing dental care than most dentists. Understanding there are many different levels of
care, Dr. Winters is committed to only providing the absolute BEST care available. The
philosophy is very simple - He will only do for you what he would have done for himself.
This way, Dr. Winters' recommendations can stay clear of insurance influence and give you
true quality - not just what is cheapest.
About Dr. Kevin Winters
Dr. Winters has made quite an impact in his profession. In addition to being a
national lecturer on quality dentistry, Dr. Winters has been on the teaching faculty of
the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies since 1997. The Institute is the
world's leading center for post-graduate education in dentistry. Dr. Winters has been
involved in teaching other dentists from all over the world how to do what he does on a
daily basis in his practice. Additionally, Dr Winters is a national lecturer, teacher,
author and is KOTV Channel 6's "Dentist on Call".
Dr. Winters has been in practice since 1990. The office is full of hi-tech equipment
ranging from special "tooth cameras" to cavity detecting lasers. The highly
trained staff focuses entirely on your comfort during your visit. Many patients have
likened their visits to a dental spa. Massage pads in the chair, headphones for music or
movies, hot towels after treatment and neck support pillows are all special touches to
make your visit extremely comfortable.
Neuromuscular Dentistry
What do headaches, neck and shoulder stiffness, dizziness, ear congestion and ringing, and
facial and head muscle tenderness have to do with dentistry? Well, at first glance, you
would think not much. However, there is a growing number of dentists who have been trained
in what is called "neuromuscular dentistry" that can tell you differently.
This approach to dentistry is much different than what most dentists were taught in dental
school. Instead of only looking at the teeth and jaws, neuromuscular dentistry considers
the muscles which control the jaws, the nerves that control the muscles, and how this
relates back to the overall body.
With this approach, many people who have had problems traditional dentistry and medicine
could not fix, have found a renewed life, free of pain and discomfort. Neuromuscular
dentistry is playing a very dynamic role in the treatment of chronic headaches, TMJ type
symptoms, and upper body (neck, shoulder, back) problems.
The basic approach is to find a certain position for the lower jaw that allows the muscles
which connect from the top and the muscles which connect from the bottom to both be in a
state of relaxation, one not pulling harder than the other. When that happens, muscles
dont overwork. When muscles dont overwork, the nerves arent overworked.
Everything is trying to reach a state of balance. When any of these are out of balance,
symptoms will occur.
Neuromuscular dentistry uses technology not usually seen in dentistry. This technology
allows the neuromuscular approach to help people in pain and who have complicated dental
problems, find solutions they have not been able to have until now.
