Hi Chris,
I found your website and thought I'd write about my root canal
experiences. Over the last 20+ years, I have had 14 - yes 14 - root
canals! I blame it on heredity.
Root canal therapy has come a long way since my very first one. Back
then, pins were inserted into the roots to stabilize the tooth while I
waited 3-4 weeks for the crown to be created. But times and the
advancements made in technology have greatly reduced both the time and
dental visits needed to repair my teeth.
As a "root canal veteran", I can tell everyone that it is not bad at
all. After the novacaine takes effect, there is no more pain. Period.
And believe me, the tooth pain prior to the root canals were
excruciating. I can't count the number of sleepless nights and painful
moans from anything cold touching the tooth I've had in the past.
Given the choice between a root canal or having the tooth pulled, have
the root canal done. It is well worth it.

Root Canal Story #2
Dear Chris,
I
had two root canals and thought I'd write about it. In the end, I feel relief. I had been
scared of ever having this procedure done because of the stories of pain. It just wasn't
as bad as everyone led me to believe.
I'm 44 and and started feeling pain in one of my molars. The dentist immediately said I had a severe cavity under my filling, and suggested a root canal. The horror I felt was terrible. He explained it isn't so bad, and I explained that I don't believe him. It turned out that the infection affected two teeth, so I wound up having both done. I was sore for about two days, but it wasn't too bad as long as I ate soft foods.
Two weeks later I had the two crowns put on, and had not a problem since.
